Kitty Pi again

I finshed the Kitty pi for Erin last week, on the 26th of May to be exact. Why I didn't post about it with my purse post I don't know. Anyway it turned out beautifully.

Before felting it looked like a giant hat.

I tossed it on Mo for just a minute so I could get a shot of her foot poking out.

And here is Mo testing it out. Kitty tested, Kitty approved. Luci liked it but I wasn't able to get a pick of her in it. And yes I had Mona shaved. I couldn't keep up with her shedding all over the place.

Hmmm... I need a new purse.

Yeah my purse fell apart on me about 2 weeks ago. I was able to temporarily stitch it back together but that's not going to hold. So I've decided to make a purse. I looked obsessively online for patterns but didn't see any I liked over much. I have four skeins of Lamb's Pride worsted weight, two in Onyx and two in Blue Blood Red. Originally, I was going to make some socks out of this for a friend, but he never told me how long his feet were, so I scrapped that project. Plus worsted weight wool socks for a guy would be too hot. Since I didn't find any patterns I just knit up a swatch on the reccomended needles (5 mm/US 8) from the label, out of the Onyx. I like the idea of using the red but I'm not too sure about it because I don't wear a lot of red. I may use it for embelishment though. I don't know yet. Now I've never felted or fulled anything before. I really like it. The swatch's original dimensions were 6 in x 6 in. It has a garter stitch border and stockinette center. I wanted to see how the different stiches would felt. The stockinette portion was 4.5 in x 4 in. I was getting 4 stitches to the inch. I washed the swatch 3 times. The swatch now measures in total 4.25 in x 4 in, and the stockinette portion is 3 in x 2.5 in. There is absolutely no stitch definition at this point which makes the measure for the stockinette bit hard. So now I'm going to create a purse based on the dimensions of my actual purse. It will be interesting.

Yay!

This is an old Yay! \O/ but still a reason to celebrate. I got my CSQ last week. Which means Quebec is okay with me immigrating here. It's a great thing. In knitting news I haven't finished much of anything lately. I started a sweater for Louis-Alexandré and I can't remember when I started it, but it was supposed to be done by the end of April. I started the March sock kit from Robyn's Nest in April, and still haven't finished it. Those socks are for me. Plus I started a pair of plain stockinette stocks in Regia Fadig for myself as well and havem't finished them either. So yeah I really need to get out of this slump and get my butt in gear. Other than that things are good.

Kitty Pi

I'm jumpimg on the kitty pi bed pattern. Simple and kntis up fast. i'm making one for a friend from Cheezfrenz, and then I'm going to make 2 more, one for Luci and one for Mona. And tehn maybe I'll make another one for Juniper. Maybe, I'll have to ask my mom if she can handle having a wool cat bed in the house. She's allergic to wool so I'd better check first. The bed I'm making right now is with Alafoss Lopi. It a nice wool. I think eventually I'll track some down to make a sweater for myself. Or a felted bag. I need a new tote bag for all my knitting anyway, I might as well make one.

Wow it's new freakin'year.

Yeah Happy New Year's a bit late. I forgot I had this blog. I wonder if I should just consolidate my blogs into one thing. Except I have no idea how to do that. I finished all of my gifts in time for Christmas for this side of the border and I'm alnost done my mom's socks. I need to put them up on ravelry. Things are good otherwise. i got an extension on visitor's record on the 30st of December. Nothing like doing things at the last minute. Réal was wondefully helpful with that. He can charm anyone including border guards. My paperwork was sent in November and sent back in December. We were missing all of two things. Nic's sponosor questionaire and pictures of me. I had my 4 pics in with the application, but only 3 of them were in the envelope, the 4th was on my perm. res. application. So I took that one off the app. and took 4 more pics. Now they can't say they don't have enough pics.
That pic is of Nic holding Louis-Alexandré.

Knitty Kitty

Well I made it to the montrealknits meeting last night and I had a blast. The ladies there were able to tell about several good yarn stores in and around Montreal. I brought some of my finished pieces that I had laying around, and they were well liked. I brought my wrist warmers, and the baby hat I made for Jordana for Christmas. I found out that the pattern for the wrist warmers comes from a book called Last Minute Gifts. They also liked the entrelac scarf I'm working on, and said to look on the net for spiral hat patterns if I get stuck making this spiral rib hat. I may try to hit the Sunday night meeting too if we don't go to St. Hyacinthe. Right now I'm working on a pair of socks for my mom and I've already turned the heel so that makes me feel accomplished. Now to find a sweater pattern for this dk yarn I was able to get last night from Mona. It's quite soft and I really like it. I'll have to post the name later because I don't have the ball infront of me.

Yesterday when I was working on the socks my cat Mona laid down on the skein. She's been helping me knit. I'll have to post the pic later of her with my yarn.
